Touch:

If a line ever splits the grid into more than two pieces, a small stray piece gets automatically merged back in for you — unless doing so would leave some piece smaller than a quarter of the grid, in which case it's left alone for you to sort out by hand.
In Split, the line is allowed to pass by itself at a single corner point without sealing that spot off — you'll see a small gap there instead of a solid dot. That's expected, not a mistake.
